Kangaroo rats are small rodents with super efficient kidneys that allow them to survive in the desert without having to drink water. As nocturnal herbivores, they get all the water they require from the plants that they eat.

These lizards are built for the desert heat, they thrive in the hot summers and brumate (hibernate) underground through the cold winter temperatures.
